The creation of a new pedestrian zone in the Austrian city of Kapfenberg prompted the municipality to rethink its waste management system. The old bins were to be replaced with new ones that would blend perfectly into the modern image of the city centre around the FH JOANNEUM university of applied sciences. The challenge: the sloping paving, which makes it difficult for bins to stand securely, and the desire for a sleek stainless-steel design to match the flower planters and bicycle stands used in the area. But meeting these needs was no problem for the Littershark!

No other litter bin combines design and functionality as effortlessly.

The award-winning Swiss bin impresses with its smooth, elegant stainless-steel housing, which not only looks attractive but is also exceptionally robust and resistant to vandalism.

In addition, the Littershark swallows several times more waste, significantly reducing the number of emptying cycles required.

The bins can also be installed easily anywhere – even on sloping ground. For Kapfenberg, these were the compelling reasons to immediately procure eight Littersharks.

At four locations, the version with the Shark Dog has also been introduced. Pedestrians can now not only dispose of their litter but also their dog waste bags directly in the Littershark.

Gone are the days when overflowing bags cluttered the pavements or open bins were left to decay. Since the introduction of the ashtray model, cigarette ends and discarded ash have also become a thing of the past.

As a special touch, Kapfenberg also decided to give the Littershark a striking visual highlight by adding the city logo. The housing can be customised to individual requirements. In Kapfenberg, it features the reclining “K”, which can also be read as “I love”, making the city’s residents even prouder of their new Littersharks.
